Venezuelans are fleeing their home because of a severe economic crisis under President Nicolas Maduro. There are high inflation rates and there isn’t enough food available for people within Venezuela to even eat. Thousands of Venezuelans cross the Simon Bolivar bridge located at Cúcuta every day and Colombia doesn’t seem to be turning anyone way. This borders episode looks at why Colombia doesn’t turn away these refugees, the shared history of the two nations and how there may be a limit to Colombia’s acceptance of incoming Venezuelans.Vox Borders is an international documentary series by Emmy-nominated producer Johnny Harris exploring life at the edge of nations. I am Colombian. For everyone asking why we are allowing Venezuelans to enter our country freely... Not helping Venezuelans is like not helping your brother or sister. At least it feels like that to us. It's hard to explain. 😄

Watching from Canada. This is heartbreaking to know ONE man has the power to completely dismantle and corrupt an entire country.

I am a Venezuelan, I am not in Colombia nor plan to go there, but, I wish that in the future I could repay that beautiful country for all they have done for us. They truly make me hopeful about the future of Latin America.

Those purses made of money remind me of hyper inflation in the Weimar Republic in Germany. People were burning money to stay warm because the value was so low.
