  • China has the world’s fastest and largest high-speed rail network — more than 19,000 miles, the vast majority of which was built in the past decade.Japan’s bullet trains can reach nearly 200 miles per hour and date to the 1960s. They have moved more than 9 billion people without a single passenger causality. casualty France began service of the high-speed TGV train in 1981 and the rest of Europe quickly followed. But the U.S. has no true high-speed trains, aside from sections of Amtrak’s Acela line in the Northeast Corridor. The Acela can reach 150 mph for only 34 miles of its 457-mile span. Its average speed between New York and Boston is about 65 mph.California’s high-speed rail system is under construction, but whether it will ever get completed as intended is uncertain.Watch the video to see why the U.S. continues to fail with high-speed trains, and some companies that are trying to fix that.» Subscribe to CNBC: http://cnb.cx/SubscribeCNBC» Subscribe to CNBC TV: http://cnb.cx/SubscribeCNBCtelevision» Subscribe to CNBC Classic: http://cnb.cx/SubscribeCNBCclassicAbout CNBC: From 'Wall Street' to 'Main Street' to award winning original documentaries and Reality TV series, CNBC has you covered. I can tell none of you have been to outher countries. In japan its cheaper to use the train than to own a vehicle. If we start to get trains everywhere, insurance companies will have to lower prices, gas prices will lower, death from motor vehicles will drastically lesson. America needs to stop waiting for the last minute. There's also other benefits too, JOBS. You dont have to live in the city to have a job in the city, you can have it while living an hr away for driving but by train 20 minutes....

@Joesph Fontaine Why don't u go back where u come from? America may not be perfect, but it's still the place where most people from around the world wants to come to.

@Joesph Fontaine Wrong. US is very corrupt & its corruption is just covered in sprinkles & fairy dust. Beneath it all is just the Dajjal.

What would you rather have high speed rail or high speed weapons?

  • Ryko Kohne

saying japan and china can build easier because its flat there is BS. Japan bore through every mountain and China bridges over any body of water, meanwhile CA can't even complete a route through the flat valley

No money? So we spend billions on The F-22 that was a failure, we send $10 billion a year to Israel in Military aid but the President Trump the "Brilliant Business Man" can't seem to make a budget to bring a small part of America to the 21st century

We have diversity... Blacks would destroy the entire system and it would end up a shithole like the NYC Subway or BART.
